Family Photo Shoot

Earlier this month, our family had the opportunity to be photographed by Sarah Albert of Sarah Jayne Photography.  She came in to visit Heather and Eddie from San Diego and agreed to take our family's photo.  We went to Mayfield Park, amongst the peacocks, and spent the morning with her.  Here is some of her beautiful work:

Happy Birthday, dear Grandpa!

First things first - today is my mom's, Mammaw, birthday.  She's in Pennsylvania and we called her this morning to wish her Happy Birthday, but Happy Birthday, Mommy!  Now come home!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grandpa Ernie turned 60 this past Thursday.  We had a birthday party for him on Sunday afternoon.  It was a great group of people who stopped by for lunch and some fun and games.  Yep, I said games.  Daniel and Stephanie brought over the Wii and the family had a blast golfing, bowling, and playing tennis.  Did we play anything else?  Oh, yes, baseball and boxing.  Cara and I went head to head there for a bit, but she knocked me out, and tomorrow we will both be feeling the burn.  REMATCH, Cara.  That's all I have to say!!!  Here's a video and some of my photos from the day.  I did not take very many, but I know Stephanie and Bekah did.  I hope they share with me! And make sure to pause my music on the right before playing the video!
And of course, we had another VBS that Hannah and her cousins, Tyler and Blaine, attended together this past week - Outrigger Island at Teri Road.  Here are some photos from the Family Program on Friday evening as well as a short video.
And of course, just a couple of Mr. C (who is potty training - YAY!) being silly.
Transforming the Playroom
We have been talking about changing the playroom since we bought the house.  Sam's had an incredible sale on their foam tiles so we bought enough for the entire playroom (and possibly Cayden's room) about a month ago.  I don't know how many of you remember what the playroom/laundry looked like previously, but it had this ugly brown shag carpet (I know my mother-in-law is reading this - face it, it's UGLY!  LOL).  Well, I started the project this week of removing the carpet and lying down the foam tiles.  I know we probably should have removed the entire carpet but if I waited to do that, I'd be waiting until the end of the year so little bits a time, I've been removing the carpet with an exacto knife and crowbar (for the carpet tack) and putting down the pieces.  I'm half way through and it is sooo cute.  We're hoping that Grandma or Mammaw might watch the kids for us one Saturday morning so we can finish the job.  Here's what I had to start with -
And here's what I've finished so far, and yes, we own half of the Little People collection and that, my friends, is Little People Land.
See how CUTE it is!!  Stephen has to help me pull of carpet on the left side as it is over a step and then we'll have to do some maneuvering so get it to fit, but it is going to be awesome!  The kids love it already!!
So when I'm not scrapping or stamping, I've been working in the playroom.  Of course, I could be paying attention to the pile of laundry on the otherside, but I feel the floor was more productive!
For Mammaw
Mammaw has been visiting GG and PapPap for the past two weeks.  We know she's having a great time, but Hannah really misses her Mammaw.  She keeps asking me, "When is Mammaw coming back?"  Time means nothing to her so I just tell her in a few days.  Of course, now we're actually counting down days.  Thank goodness for calendars!!
Tonight was the VBS Program at Bethany.  Hannah was very concerned that Mammaw wasn't going to be there to see her sing and dance, so I took this video to show Mammaw.  Of course, I couldn't find my camera before we left (totally unlike me) so I had to use the camcorder on my phone.  I think it did a great job.
And this one is of Amanda for Kim -
Here are the photos I got with the camera -
I don't have any idea who they are looking at here!
Poor Darby - she moved at the last minute. If you look closely, Julianna is right behind Hannah.
Favorite Summertime Activities
This summer has been so filled with activities that there is barely time for me to sit and do anything for myself.  If you can believe it, I've been working on the same scrapbook layout since Monday.  I finally did get it finished today.  And I must say it is super cute.  And it goes along with the theme of this entry.
I try to keep the kids as busy as possible so that they are utterly exhausted at the end of the day and go to bed right away.
We have been spending lots of time at the Dittmar Neighborhood Pool .  It's so awesome that the area pools in Austin are free to the public.  We have one right nearby us but the Dittmar Pool's shallow end goes from 2 ft to 3 ft 3 inches so I know that Hannah can touch the bottom of the entire shallow end.  This makes it a little easier to juggle the two kiddos.  And don't worry, they are both in life protection gear!  Of course, because I am in the pool with them, there are no photos to document our fun times together.
We have discovered the Bulter Fountain Park in downtown Austin.  It's only 5 miles away and it's free so the trip to the park is worth our time if we spend an hour or so.  It's a lot of fun with the many many fountains that are shooting off for the kids to play in.  The kids have a blast playing there.
There's also the two fun indoor playnaisums, Goin' Bananas and Radijazz.  Although they are pricey, we get buy one get one admission at Radijazz because of our membership to the children's museum and Going Bananas has discount days that we try to take advantage of every once in a while.
And we go to the Austin Children's Museum once a week.  We're members so we get a discount to park and it doesn't cost us anything but gas to visit.  The kids always have a good time and there is Storytime EVERY DAY which is really nice and every other week Stacy Gray is there to read the story and sing to the kids.
And speaking of storytimes, we got to the Pottery Barn Kids Storytime every week.
Aside from those things, Hannah is signed up for nearly every VBS under the sun to keep her busy and hanging out with her friends.
Our Newest Addition
As you all know, our little dog, Sparky, ran away this past weekend.  Our family has been heartbroken and the kids have shed a lot of tears.  In fact, last night, I just had a complete meltdown myself.  And this was after our new addition joined the family.  We love Sparky very much and am very sad that he's gone.  We hope for a safe return, but because his return to our family is unknown, we decided to add to our family.  I am proud to introduce to the world, our newest addition to our family, Buster.
