Pieces of Me

What is it about watermelon?  You either love it or hate it.  There's really no in between.  In my home, three of us LOVE watermelon.  In fact, Hannah, Cayden, and I could eat 1 small watermelon a week if we wanted to, but we don't because I try to have different types of fruit in the house throughout the year, even at summer.  But today, at Newflower Farmer's Market, the kids begged me for a watermelon.  And with it being on sale (8 lbs for under $3), I got us one.  I also got strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, nectarines and apples, all for under $11.  And now we have an abundance of fruit that my kiddos will eat all week!  They've started to turn their nose up to vegetables (where is that coming from??? Must be school), although they will eat asparagus so I shouldn't complain.   Now Stephen. . . he's a difficult one to get to eat his fruit or veggies, but as long as we have corn and green beans, he's fine.

We're going to build and plant a garden this summer.  This means I have to read up on how to plant a garden as well as figure out when you plant what, blah, blah, blah.  Maybe I should call Pap and ask him.  It will definitely be a learning experience, BUT it will keep us active and help us be more "green" (I think).

Living a fit and healthy lifestyle is a goal that I want my entire family to reach.  I want us being active, and playing together.  Have you seen the public service announcement with the basketball players - it's for an hour a day, just play.  I tried to find it online, but I was unsuccessful.  If you've seen it, you'll know what I'm talking about.  It's really cute.  Anyway, I am trying to get our family to do this together.  Especially with the summer here.  It's time to get out and play together whether in the pool or just for a walk.

And together, we will grow closer as a family as well as prolong our lives here on earth.  We've already received salvation.

You got some *great* deals. Produce is so darn expensive. We are big into vegetables here and it gets outrageous. Sam's saves us.

As far as the garden ~ Yes, I would suggest you look into that soon! We plant ours in April and everything is getting close to producing (like, there are tomatoes on the vines, but they're still green & the cucumbers have flowered, so the cucumber will be soon!)

Enjoy this project with your family!! And yes, the activity is huge ~ so important to make activity "natural" to kids IMO!
